Picture showing the line of the Offas Dyke Long Distant Footpath skirting Brynhonddu on the 170 mile route from Prestatyn to Chepstow At Brynhonddu Country House we provide comfortable accommodation within picturesque surroundings and we are ideally situated for Walking, Touring and Activity Breaks, set as we are in the foot hills of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park, within the Welsh Border area known historically as the Welsh Marches.

As an increasing percentage of the population becomes reliant on either Satnavs or on Google / Bing internet maps for navigation, we have found from experience that as Brynhonddu Country House is situated in a rural setting then these sources never properly identify our exact location, leading to our guests being mis-directed and becoming lost on the local mountain on several occasions.

As a result we offer you some very simple directions, illustrated by the map on the left which shows both the recommended route from the Old Pandy Inn in blue and the line of Offa's Dyke in red:
  • From the roundabout just south of Abergavenny at the junction of the A40 with the A465 and A4042, take the A465 trunk road north towards Hereford for 6 miles to Pandy.

  • At the last pub in the village, The Old Pandy Inn, turn left under the railway bridge and after 300 meters turn first left.

  • After a further 700 meters turn right at Brynhonddu Lodge up a long tree-lined drive.

  • The drive is a third of a mile long and at the top on the left hand side is the car-park.

  • Follow the left hand fork in the drive up to Reception.

  • Past our Reception area is our neighbour’s grounds, please do not walk on past Reception.
